School Development Plan Key Areas 2017- 2018

School Aim

To meet the Ofsted criteria for being an outstanding school.

Rationale

Self-evaluation and local external advice judge the school to be Ofsted good. This is influenced by the 2016 outcomes and the 2017 outcomes where attainment in writing, science and maths are lower than reading outcomes and some national outcomes with focus on KS2 outcomes.

Success criteria

The school will meet the Ofsted descriptors for outstanding by the summer of 2018.

To raise standards in writing.

Writing outcomes to be >70% expected and >10% greater depth and equal or higher than national outcomes. All pupils make expected or greater than progress.

Feedback, to pupils, for learning to move learning on and support progress.

(inconsistent practice and impact)

A consistent, efficient feedback system established which enables pupils to understand their learning and how to make further progress.

Evidence in books and pupil voice.

To raise standards in maths.

(outcomes for 2016 low and for 2017 lower than reading in attainment and progress)

Maths outcomes to be >75% expected and >25% greater depth and equal or higher than national outcomes. All pupils make expected or greater than progress.

RE to meet the expectation for SIAMS outstanding teaching and learning.

(SIAMS inspection only good)

New syllabus embedded, supported by an assessment system and pupils achieving the higher expectations and all pupils make expected or greater than progress.

To have a broad and balanced curriculum for St Francis pupils.

(3 year review, and imbalance because of other subject developments)

A revised engaging curriculum, with particular focus on Foundation subject, and established accompanying assessment systems.

To raise standards in science.

Outcomes at the end of KS1 & 2 in line with national outcomes and all pupils make expected or greater than progress.

To ensure that all pupils make expected or greater than progress with particular focus on groups including PPG ( PPG focus, middle-attaining pupils, progress from 2016/7)

All pupil progress to be expected or greater than from starting point. The progress of middle attaining pupils to have been closely monitored and intervention to support provided.
