Braeside update 10:30 28/4

The children had a lovely day yesterday, the weather changed from bright sunshine to sleet/snow/hail whilst we were canoeing, but we all enjoyed ourselves and were wrapped up warm!

We did our orienteering through the town in the evening - all managed to find their way around, and no one was lost!

We slept well, and have woken to sunshine, which should last the day (rain is due about 5pm) which will be good for our 6 mile hike and shelter building!

Braeside update 14:42 27/4/16 - The children have arrived safely and have already completed the town trail in beautiful sunshine.

Please see attached a  list of grammar hints, it is not fully comprehensive but hopefully will provide both children and parents with some hints of the grammar learning that is taking place in Key Stage 2. We hope that you may find it useful when working with your child on any English homework.

Spring Term 2016

Dear parents,

Please find below a copy of of Topic Plan for Spring Term 1, which details all the curriculum areas we will cover in the coming weeks.

Topic plan Americas Term 3.docx

We would like to take the opportunity to thank you for attending our Greek afternoon earlier this term.  Your children had a wonderful time performing their plays to you all.  It was a fantastic opportunity for you to see your children as performers and writers.  I think you'd agree that they all worked incredibly hard.

  ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

World Language Day at Isambard

Last term, we visited Isambard Community School to take part in their World Language Day activities. During the day, the children experienced and learned a range of languages, including: Russian, Welsh, Japanese, Hebrew and Chinese Mandarin.

The children were actively involved with all the activities and were taught in many different ways. Importantly, this opportunity gave them the confidence to try new languages, work with children from other schools and develop their understanding about different cultures.

500 Word Stories - BBC Radio 2

The children worked very hard last term to create an individual and imaginative story for the competition.  They found it incredibly difficult to write within the word count, as they had so many wonderful ideas!

We are delighted with the high quality writing that the children produced and are rooting for a winner!

PCSO Visit - Cyber-bullying

Last term, we were paid a visit by the local PCSO Officers. During the visit, they talked about 'cyber-bullying', what it is, what it looks like and what you should do about it.

The children contributed with confidence and showed a maturity and understanding of a sensitive subject.  This linked well with our previous work on internet safety from the autumn term.
