Term 4 homework plan

Here is the topic plan and the homework plan for this term. Our Living Rainforest trip is taking place on Thursday 15th March. Children will need to wear school uniform but it is hot in the rainforest so a jumper isn’t necessary. If you are available to help please come and let us know.

Parents are invited in at 1.30pm on Tuesday 27th March to take part in some topic work with us. This will involve a walk around the school (outside school grounds) and some follow up work when we get back, so we would prefer it if siblings didn’t attend. At 3.15pm this session will be followed by a SATs meeting in the Year 2 classroom.

This will also be our homework sharing day and dress up day. Feel free to join in with your own costume!

We had a lovely day on World Book Day. First thing in the morning we had a parade where the whole school showed each other their costumes. Take a look at some of ours.

We read ‘On the Ning, Nang, Nong’ by Spike Milligan and made our own nonsense poems using the words we had come into school as. Here are some of our poems…..

A colourful place is a good wild place for a crazy scientific man

And a sleepy, cosy bed skis down a hill with a dirty trolley passing,

The sparkly unicorn, which was cuddling the majestic Queen.

In the Welsh, curly, inflammable countryside, there was an edible cookie,

Which was running away from the sleepy frog, leaping everywhere saying “Bing!”

It was a scary, sleepy and spooky fat day.

The sleepy monster snored so loudly he did not here the fragile parts burning.

Independent, blue, sleepy boys rolled down the hill and their heads went bong!

When Minecraft goes bong, sleepy goes wrong.

Ning, nang  nong, comfortable jail goes ding dang dong.

Friendship Fortnight (Nov '17)

The theme of Friendship Fortnight is Sharing our Similarities, Celebrating our Differences.  We worked together to colour a circle and background, the idea being that we were all doing exactly the same thing but each person's section of colouring was different.  We also talked about the physical similarities and differences we have.

Term 1 Information

Our PE days are Wednesday and Friday. Please ensure as the weather gets colder that your child has an appropriate PE kit for outside PE.

27th November Trip to Bristol Zoo

On Thursday 27th November 2014, as part of our Year 2 topic on " Penguins", we have arranged a class trip to Bristol Zoo which includes the Polar Experience.

We will leave St Francis promptly at 9.00am and will return to St Francis by 3.15pm (subject to traffic). Could you please bring your child into school for 8.30am so that it allows time for registration.

Due to the new school lunch policy this year, if you order your child's meal via parent pay they will be provided with a free packed lunch which will include, sausage roll, cheese sandwich, crisps, flapjack and a piece of fruit. Please ensure your child brings in a drink in a rucksack (no cans or glass bottles). If you prefer to provide your own packed lunch and drink for your child, please put it in a named, disposable bag.

Children will need to wear their normal school uniform but for security reasons, children MUST be wearing a St Francis jumper, cardigan or fleece at all times. The children will also be outside for the majority of the day, so a suitable coat and shoes are a necessity.

The voluntary contribution towards the cost of the trip will be £14.00 per child. Unfortunately, this trip will need to be cancelled if we do not receive enough contributions to cover the cost of the visit. We do appreciate that this trip is fairly expensive, but please note that any future Year 2 trips this year will be significantly lower in cost.

Your child may bring some money to spend in the shop, no more than £5, but this is not compulsory. Please put this in a secure and labelled purse or envelope. Your child will be responsible for carrying this in their rucksack. Any medication your child has in school will be taken with us.

Please contact the school office if you have any issues regarding payment, which will be dealt with confidentially. Please use Parentpay using your login previously provided at:

Thank You
Mr Farmer & Miss Mundin
