St Francis CofE Sporting Year 2020-21 – Overview

Despite a challenging year, St Francis has excelled in the sporting arena with some of the highlights being:
*  Joint 1st position – Sports School of the Year 2021
*  5th – Wiltshire Sports School of the Year 2021
*  1st Erin D – Yr2 Solo Gymnastics
*  1st Yr. 3 & 4 Quad kids (Athletics)
*  SSFA Shield Winners – Boys Yr. 6 (Football)
As well as the many inter-school House competitions run during their PE lessons, we entered the Wiltshire and
Swindon Sport Partnership (WASP) virtual competitions back in December 2020 – participating in a variety of
different challenges including gymnastics (of which Erin D in Year 2 won her group), fitness, skipping, tennis and golf.
We clocked up over 600 participants and came a respectable 5th within Wiltshire.
Alongside the WASP challenges, FortiusPE held their own which incorporated the WASP challenges and also added
football, Quad kids (athletics) and cricket.
Children from Year 1 up all participated at school and at intra-school competitions – Year 3 & 4 won their Quad kids
competition.

St Francis entered around 15 intra-school competitions. Due to the participation in this challenges, we became joint-winners (with Swindon Academy) of the Sports School of the Year 2020/21 – a great achievement for our school.

Also, our Year 6 Boys became the SSFA Shield Winners 2021

Furthermore, we also installed a 170m athletics track around the football field which has been in constant use by all
pupils. This aerial photograph was taken by a passing pilot!

Finally, congratulations to Avebury for retaining the Sports Day cup.
