Curriculum

A major development for the school leading up to this school year has been the preparation for and development of a brand new curriculum for September 2014 for KS1 & KS2. EYFS (Nursery and Reception) had a new curriculum in September 2012, which running smoothly and providing our children with an expansive range of learning opportunities.
From this September all schools in England will be delivering a new curriculum and we have worked hard to develop ours. As a group of teachers, we have extensively looked into the requirements of the new National Curriculum and have planned topics and activities which will excite your children as well as incorporate and enhance what is required by the new legislation. As a school, we are very excited by some of the new ideas we have thought of as they some are new topics for us too so we have spent many months researching and resourcing our ideas ready for the launch in September. We are really pleased that some of the topics which we have found to be rich learning experiences will still have a home in our curriculum too. Throughout the curriculum change, all at St Francis will continue to sustain the excellent high standards we set ourselves and the new curriculum will focus on developing all facets of our children as set out in our vision and aims. We have also incorporated the other foci from the previous year’s school development plan: Independence, Outdoor Learning and Creativity, as well as our current year’s foci.
At St Francis we follow the National Curriculum for all subjects
