Dear Parents

As part of our science curriculum in Term 2, we are excited to inform you that we will be taking the children on an educational trip to ‘We The Curious’ in Bristol. This visit has been planned to support and enhance the children’s learning in our science topic, ‘Earth and Space’ and will happen during normal school hours.

During the trip, the children will take part in an engaging Earth, Sun, and Moon workshop, experience the Planetarium 3D Solar system show and have time to explore the wide range of interactive exhibits on offer. These experiences have been carefully chosen to align with the key objectives within the National Curriculum for science and will help to consolidate and deepen the children’s understanding through hands-on, practical learning.

Please ensure your child brings in a packed lunch with a drink in a named rucksack (no cans or bottles).  Please also cancel your child’s hot dinner, by Friday 21st November’25. If your child is entitled to free school meals and you would like us to provide them with a packed lunch, please inform your class teacher as soon as possible.

Children will need to wear their normal school uniform and for security reasons, children MUST be wearing a St Francis jumper, cardigan or fleece at all times.  Any medication your child has in school will be taken with us.

The voluntary contribution towards the cost of this trip will be £24.75 per child, this covers entrance costs, coach travel and 2 workshops.  Please contact the school office if you have any issues regarding payment, which will be dealt with confidentially.  Please also see our school website for details of our charging policy.

Please give consent and make final payment via PA Connect, Payments, by 11th November 2025.  If your child is registered as Pupil Premium, the cost is covered by the school but you will still need to check out to show consent.

Kind regards,

The Year 5 Team.
